RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

IT TAKES IN THE OXYGEN WE NEED TO CONVERT NUTRIENTS INTO ENERGY

It eliminates carbon dioxide.

1. Air enters through our nostrils and passes into the nasal cavity. The diaphragm contracts and the lungs get bigger.

2. The air moves down the trachea ( or windpipe) and enters the lungs via the bronchi.

The bronchi are divided into bronchioles.

3. The oxygen reaches the bronchioles and alveoli.

4. Oxygen passes from the alveoli into the blood and carbon dioxide passes from the blood into the alveoli.

5. The diaphragm relaxes and the lungs get smaller. Carbon dioxide exits the body through the nose and mouth.

THE RESPIRATION PROCESS
